SMS Towage uses Marfle Fleet Analytics

We are extremely proud for announcing our recent deal with SMS Towage! The UK’s biggest privately owned tugboat owner agreed to use Marfle Fleet Analytics in its 6 tugboats. With the recent deal, Marfle solidifies its presence in tugboat segment.

SMS Towage was already testing the system in one tugboat, Nobleman, since October 2021. During this trial, Marfle Fleet Analytics proved its capabilities and SMS managers decided to install the system in 5 more vessels.  Installations will be performed throughout this summer period.

SMS Towage is the UK’s largest independent harbour towage operator with a strategically placed fleet of vessels all around the UK coast. Reducing the carbon footprint of vessel operations is one of the main concerns, and SMS Towage were looking for a solution. Recognising that, before one can look at reducing the carbon footprint, SMS Towage needed to establish a base-line on consumption by measuring their current fuel consumption.

According to the Technical Manager, Ronald Keuning:

“Marfle Fleet Analytics gave SMS Towage the opportunity and tools to measure and monitor fuel consumption during re-positioning and transition voyages.

After the Marfle installation on-board the Nobleman, the analysis of the data and driving styles provided us with a unique in-sight and provided us with ways to reduce our fuel consumption, and therefore our carbon footprint.

The Marfle system is robust and straight-forward to use and the skippers are able to log in on the platform and view the data and associated information.”
