Milestone Achievement: Marfle Successfully Integrated Across Harwich Haven Authority Fleet
In a significant development, Marfle proudly announces the successful integration of its advanced technology across the entire fleet of six vessels belonging to the esteemed Harwich Haven Authority. This strategic collaboration marks a pivotal advancement in our ongoing mission to redefine fleet management and enhance sustainability practices within the maritime domain. To shed light on this exciting development, we had the privilege of engaging in a dialogue with Matthew Pearson, Marine Engineering Manager at Harwich Haven Authority, to discuss their experience with Marfle and the impact it has had on their operations.
About Harwich Haven Authority
Harwich Haven Authority is one of the UK’s largest trust ports and is located on the East Coast of the UK. The Authority is run commercially, but its trust port status allows them to reinvest surplus profits back into the Haven for the benefit of stakeholders, which can be defined as anyone that has an interest in the Haven.
The Haven is a critical trade gateway as nearly 40% of all containerised goods entering the UK arrives via one of five ports operating in the Haven. The Authority’s responsibilities include maintaining the depth of the approach channel and Harwich Harbour to ensure the ever-growing breed of large container vessels can access the UK’s largest and busiest operator, the Port of Felixstowe.
Operating a 24/7, 365 days of year service, the Authority also provides Pilotage to arriving vessels, maintains navigational buoys and manages a Vessel Traffic Services operations center.
Role within Harwich Haven Authority
My role is the Engineering Manager, responsible for overseeing the engineering team. With a background in the pleasure boat world, I began my apprenticeship there and later joined Harwich Haven Authority in 2006. Now, as the Engineering Manager, I oversee the maintenance of our fleet of vessels, including four pilot vessels, an oil response vessel, and a survey vessel, as well as all of Harwich Haven's vehicles.
