Installing Datalogger on Rib

The Finnish Lifeboat Institution operates several cabinless boats. In order to have fleet wide engine analytics, it is required to install datalogger devices to boats. This device collects information from engine's CAN bus, and sends it in real time to the cloud servers for analysis.

We have prepared a short video of the installation procedure:

On this cabinless boat we use a IP67 protected logger unit so our electronics are protected from moisture and rough weather.

The logger is mounted to an existing bar using bolts but can easily be installed in various applications.

Our cable harness is connected with just one connector to an existing auxiliary box that the engine manufacturer uses to bring all engine components together.

All cables are fastened using quality zip ties and holders, in order to ensure all components stays in place even in rough weather. The panel on this boat is made of composite, so no external antenna for LTE is needed.
